Horary astrologers worldwide will be focused on the matches along with the soccer fans, pitting their astrological skill against the sport. As the tournament unfolds I will delineate charts for my favourite teams and articles will be added to this page; the reader is encouraged to read them in sequence from the bottom upwards. IntroductionI hope that the articles below provide a satisfactory glimpse into the magnificent ancient world of horary astrology. It is the only astrological methodology able to provide specific answers to specific questions and which belongs exclusively to the realm of the Tradition. Kindly note that in most cases, for this tournament, the forecasts were not displayed prior to the matches, although all predictions were made pre match. Prediction means attaining a result before the outcome is known; this is verified by the times the charts are set, listed in each article below. Posting the forecasts prior to the events negates the need for clients to use my services; it also (rightly) upsets those who do. Article #11:Spain won the World Cup, not Holland. The antiscion of Venus in the horary chart - Spain - was obviously the deciding factor in that chart: I tried to find testimony to match the event chart which emphatically had Holland winning, although I noted below that at first glance Spain should win. As for the event chart, I can only conclude that Pars Solis, the Part of Kings, conjunct the Ascendant (Spain) is what clinched it. This is contrary to popular event chart methodology where conjunction by the Moon to one of the significators is normally conclusive. Another learning curve in a craft that is bigger than the individual. Delineating the charts for this event was fun (albeit nail biting at times) and it most certainly taught me a tremendous amount: if you are not prepared to push your astrological boundaries, you will never grow within your craft. I intend to take a well-deserved break from sports' horaries for a while and enjoy the sporting events I watch without knowing (or worrying about) the outcome! Will Spain or the Netherlands win the 2010 FIFA World Cup?My favourite to win the 2010 World Cup is the Netherlands; I have used two astrological methods to predict this: The Event Chart: event charts are the lowest astrological methodologies on the food chain and the technique is different to that of horary. The match kicks off in Johannesburg at 20:30 on 11 July 2010; the house system used is Placidus. Taking all the criteria into account for an event chart and using Spain as the favourite and Netherlands as the underdog (obtained from the bookies), my conclusion is that the Netherlands will win the World Cup. One major testimony is accountable: Moon's final aspect is to conjunct the Sun which is the Netherlands; two minor testimonies are Lord 4, the public success of the Netherlands, is in its mundane house and Neptune, an outer planet who just like Pluto does not like the favourite, is conjunct the Ascendant Spain. The Horary Chart: 8 July 2010 at 12:40, Johannesburg, Ascendant at 2Scorpio43. My favourite the Netherlands is Mars, Spain is Venus. At first glance it appears Spain should win as its antiscion is posited on the 7th cusp. However the following factors lead me to believe Mars will win: Mars is conjunct the Part of Fortune; the antiscion of Mars is in the house of its joy; Venus bodily opposes the house of her joy; the fixed star Princeps is posited on the Ascendant: "the prince"; Venus is posited on some nasty fixed stars; the Part of Kings is conjunct the nodal axis by antiscion, highlighting it and it is disposited by Jupiter who loves Mars and who beholds the antiscion of Mars by conjunction; although popular horary methods say to ignore the Moon's aspects, William Lilly used them and I have found them to work well in some cases: here the Moon is faster than normal, travelling at 13 degrees and 31 minutes and is conjunct the antiscion of Mercury who is currently travelling 100% faster than normal; the Moon is in close applying sextile to Jupiter and she will perform a Translation of Light between Jupiter and Mars, taking the dispositor of Pars Solis to Mars. Both these charts highlight a horary chart I assessed for a friend on 2 June 2010 in Johannesburg at 19:00, Ascendant at 5Capricorn49. The Netherlands, his favourite, is Saturn. Saturn is posited in the angular 10th, 4 degrees from the MC and in close aspect to the great benefic Jupiter in dignity. My reply to him at that stage was that although I believed it was premature to predict an overall win, he was most likely backing a winning horse. Article #10:Will the Netherlands beat Uruguay in their semi-final match?3 July 2010, 17:15, Johannesburg, Ascendant at 9Capricorn35. My favourite, the Netherlands, is Lord 1 Saturn; posited in a partile conjunction with the MC and the Part of Fortune. Lord 7 the Moon is posited in the angular 4th and conjunct Saturn by antiscion. This is detrimental for Saturn as both the Moon and Jupiter (Saturn antiscion is also conjunct Jupiter) are in the fall of Saturn. This promises to be a close game, but based on Saturn's position on the Midheaven I predict that the Netherlands will beat Uruguay and move onto the final. It is interesting to note that in March I predicted that a northern hemisphere team would win the World Cup (article below) and at the time many people said that was inevitable. Not so based on the fact that 4 of the 8 teams in the quarter finals were southern hemisphere - up until now both hemispheres had been on an equal footing. Article #9:Germany vs. Argentina and Paraguay vs. Spain: 3 July 2010I have posted this information for fellow students of astrology who may wish to view these charts. Germany vs. Argentina 1 July 2010, 18:56, Johannesburg, Ascendant at 00Aquarius05; Germany, my favourite Saturn, had to win the match as Saturn is far better placed than Lord 7 the Sun; conjunct the south node and posited in the 6th. When assessing the horary chart for Spain and Paraguay, 1 July 2010, 20:35, Johannesburg, Ascendant at 21Aquarius25, it appeared that Lord 7, Paraguay would win. As it was not crystal clear I set an event chart as well - in the event chart it appeared that Spain would win, which they did. Article #8:Will Ghana beat Uruguay at 8.30pm on 2 July 2010 - Quarter Final? The chart was set on 1 July 2010 at 13:54 in Johannesburg, Ascendant at 17Scorpio13. Ghana, my favourite is Lord 1 posited in the succedent 11th house. Uruguay is Venus, Lord 7, posited in the angular 10th. Both antiscia are in the unfortunate 6th, Mars is in a partile sextile aspect to Mercury who has face but is combust. Based on house placement my forecast is that Uruguay will beat Ghana. Due to the apparent equality of both teams in this chart I will set an event chart to check my assessment. Result: Uruguay beat Ghana in a penalty shoot-out. Article #7:Netherlands vs. Brazil on 2 July 2010 - Quarter Final A client who regularly consults with me wanted to know if his team, the Netherlands, would move onto the semi-final as he needed to make travel arrangements for a business trip. The chart was set and delineated on Thursday 1 July 2010 in Johannesburg at 15:49; he needed to make a decision regarding his flight arrangements that day; the Ascendant is 18Sagitarrius04. His favourite is Lord 1 posited in the neutral 5th and Brazil is posited in the unfortunate 8th and is combust. My deduction was that the Netherlands would beat Brazil in the quarter final. Result: Netherlands won 2-1 and advance to the semi-final. My client did delay his flight based on my horary delineation and will be able to support his team at the semi-final match. Article #6:Will Netherlands beat Slovakia on 28 June 2010?28 June 2010, Johannesburg, 11:26, Ascendant at 24Virgo29. Netherlands, my favourite Lord 1 is cazimi - raised to sit next to the king and posited in the angular 10th. Jupiter, Slovakia, is in his own home the 7th, but in a different celestial house and his antiscion is conjunct the great malefic Saturn in the 1st. Netherlands will win, no extra time. Result: Netherlands won 2-1. Article #5:Will Argentina beat Mexico at 8.30pm on 27 June 2010?27 June 2010, Johannesburg, 15:26, Ascendant at 8Sagittarius10. Argentina, my favourite, is Jupiter posited in the 5th. Mexico is Mercury combust, posited in the unfortunate 8th and in opposition to malefic Pluto. Argentina will win and I doubt whether extra time will be required as the teams are not evenly matched in the chart. Result: Argentina beat Mexico 3-1. Article #4:Will England beat Germany at 4pm on 27 June 2010?27 June 2010, Johannesburg, 11:44, Ascendant at 29Virgo10. England, my favourite, is Mercury posited in the 10th, combust and in a partile opposition to malefic Pluto. Germany, Lord 7, is Jupiter in its own house, the angular 7th and its antiscion is on the Ascendant. The game will not go into extra time and Germany will win. Result: Germany won 4-1, no extra time. Article #3:Will Ghana beat USA at 8.30pm on 26 June 2010?26 June 2010, Johannesburg, 20:17, Ascendant at 13Aquarius15. Ghana, my favourite, is posited in the unfortunate 8th house, but the Sun, USA, although posited in the neutral 5th, is besieged. The debilitated Moon in fall separates from an opposition to the Sun, the Sun is separating from an opposition to malefic Pluto and is applying to the malefic South Node. The antiscion of Saturn is conjunct 2 fixed stars - Uranus and Difda; Uranus depicts a sudden change in matters and Difda is of the nature of Saturn, making Saturn, who is about to enter exaltation, even more Saturnine. The fixed star on the Ascendant, Dorsum, although malefic is also of the nature of Saturn; the chart thus has an extremely Saturnine theme to it, Saturn being Ghana. The Sun is posited on the fixed star Dirah which is situated in the foot of Castor, the mortal twin; this certainly does not allude to immortality or of leaving behind a legacy! My judgement is that the two teams are evenly matched, and that if it was a group match where no extra time is allowed, it would result in a draw. Should it go into extra time, Ghana will win: the Moon, disposited by Saturn tranlsates the light from Mars to Saturn, Mars being Lord 10, the public accolade. Result: draw at full time of 1-all. Ghana beat the USA 2-1 in extra time. Article #2:Will Brazil beat Portugal on 25 June 2010?25 June 2010, Johannesburg, 14:34, Ascendant at 21Scorpio56. Brazil, my favourite, is Lord 1 Mars; Portugal Lord 7 is Venus. Based on house placement, Portugal should beat Brazil today, but my concerns are the antiscia of both significators posited in the 6th, the Mars fixed star on the Ascendant and Mars posited on Zosma - Brazil will not go down without a fight which may result in a draw. Result: draw. Article #1:26 March 2010: Will the southern or northern hemisphere win the 2010 FIFA World Cup?On 11 June 2010 at 4pm South Africa will play Mexico in the opening game of the FIFA World Cup. There are 8 divisions comprising of 4 teams each:
Although it is not premature to ask of horary astrology which team will win the FIFA 2010 World Cup, one would need a favourite team in order to do so. I do not as yet have a favourite as I am not an avid soccer fan. I will pick my favourite team as the tournament unfolds based on the usual female criteria – and yes, I am woman enough to admit that. I have therefore delineated a chart using an umbrella approach and will fine-tune my predictions with greater specificity as the tournament unfolds. My horary question at this initial stage is ‘Will the southern or northern hemisphere win the 2010 FIFA World Cup?' My favourite being the southern hemisphere to win as that is where I reside. Southern and Northern HemispheresThe Equator, that imaginary horizontal line at 0º degrees latitude at the centre of the earth, divides the earth into the northern and southern Hemispheres. The vertical imaginary line called the Prime Meridian, at 0º degrees longitude, and its twin line of longitude, opposite the Prime Meridian at 180º longitude, divides the earth into the eastern and western Hemispheres. Therefore (with some exceptions) all countries north of the Equator are in the Northern Hemisphere, while all countries south of the Equator are in the Southern Hemisphere. In addition, all countries west of the Prime Meridian are in the Western Hemisphere while those east of the Prime Meridian are in the Eastern Hemisphere. The Northern Hemisphere includes all of North America, the northern reaches of South America, about two-thirds of Africa, all of Asia (excluding parts of Indonesia) and all of Europe. The Southern Hemisphere includes of most of South America, one-third of Africa, all of Antarctica, a small sliver of Asia (parts of Indonesia) and all of Australia/Oceania.
The Horary ChartIt is important to remember that the querent, the person asking the question, must have a favourite team – no favourite, no question. Lord 1 in the chart is the southern hemisphere, being my favourite, signified by Venus. Lord 7, the northern hemisphere as the ‘open enemy', has Mars as its significator. In contests the two main criteria for determining who will win are combustion and house placement. As always, it is ‘all things being equal' and many a contest horary has been delineated incorrectly when forgetting one of the simple astrological rules. Neither of these significators is combust so we can discard that primary criterion and turn our attention to house placement. Venus as the southern hemisphere is posited in the unfortunate 12th house where she is rendered incapable of action while Mars as the northern hemisphere is angular – 5 degrees or so of the angular 4th house and being in the same sign is therefore read as being angular. Mars therefore wins hands down based on house placement alone. There are no other factors on hand to override this testimony and my verdict is therefore that the northern hemisphere will win the 2010 FIFA World Cup. ConclusionThe southern hemisphere teams participating in the 2010 FIFA World Cup are: South Africa, Australia, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay and New Zealand; none of these 7 teams will win the tournament. As the tournament unfolds I will take a closer look at certain teams and add the predictions for those matches to this article on this web site; it is up to the reader to decide if they wish to know the outcome of these events prior to kick-off, or not. The most exciting weeks will obviously be those of the semi finals and finals and by then I will have decided on a firm favourite! I urge those astrologers qualified in horary to use this magnificent sporting tournament, hosted for the first time in South Africa, as an opportunity to brush up on or to fine-tune their skill in horary; sporting events are conclusive within a short space of time and the astrologer can learn from each delineation, improving on skills which, like any language, are lost if not exercised regularly.
