The simplicity of Horary Astrology Print E-mail
Written by Jacqueline Brook

This delineation depicts the true beauty of horary astrology - it really is poetry in motion. It was simple and fun to do and it highlights the necessity to honour the chart and not what the querent tells you!

Chart details: 2011/01/11 G; 14:00:00 EET; Johannesburg; South Africa; 028° e 00' 26° s 15'; Asc: 13°06' Taurus; Moon: 10°12' Aries.

The querent and her boyfriend finished high school at the end of 2010 – in South Africa we say they matriculated; both were now going to university. The querent had been accepted to study law at a major university in Johannesburg; she obtained a first class matric with three distinctions. Her boyfriend had provisionally been accepted at a university in the Cape based on his mid-year marks but this meant he would be over 1000 km’s away from Johannesburg (and her). He wanted to stay in Johannesburg and attend the same university as the querent. Sadly his matric marks were not up to scratch and the Johannesburg university declined him. The degree he had applied for in the Cape was now no longer available to him – he could still attend but would have to change his choice of study.

Her question was – is there any chance the Johannesburg university will reconsider his application or will he have to go to Cape Town?

Mars, the quesited, has an imminent sign change and will change from exaltation to being peregrine; however, he will still be in Saturn’s celestial home when this occurs (Saturn being his parents, turned Lord 4, with whom he lives). The loss of essential dignity combined with the (applying) combustion indicated to me that he would not be accepted at the university in question, even after an appeal, but he would remain in Johannesburg. The antiscion of Mars conjunct Venus, the querent, confirmed this. All parties concerned were disbelieving of my judgement - according to them these were the only 2 options available to the quesited.

After doing research, he found that South Africa’s distance learning university had a lecture attendance faculty; this faculty accepted those who had been unable to obtain entrance into the major universities. The standard of education is high, but to the student, there is a loss of face and a drop in status. Mars posited on the Fixed Star Terebellum denotes fortune (he obtained entrance into a university in Johannesburg) but with regret and disgrace.
