Investing in knowledge yields the highest return: the study of astrology facilitates client consultations while adding value to the life of the practitioner: learn to do the right thing at the right time. Traditional astrology provides a solid and thorough astrological foundation, ensuring the necessary skills are attained to apply the craft; a spiritual dimension exists as well due to the philosophy with which the craft is aligned. It is not to be entered into lightly: commitment, diligence, courage and humility are required if the student is to master the subject; that said it is a subject that can never truly be mastered due to its complexity. The study of traditional astrology is not conducive to self-study: text books do not contain the intricate nuances required to apply the craft with efficacy as it is impossible to list all that is known in print. Even the great astrologer William Lilly learnt his skill from another authority who preceded him in this celestial science. The Hierarchy of StudyMost astrologers of the Tradition commence their astrological studies through contemporary branches, only to find that there is something fundamentally lacking. The persistent ones eventually knock on the door of the Tradition and for most, they have arrived home: the quest for the Holy Grail has ended. Astrologers of the Tradition have set formulae in their methodologies and everything 'is' a certain way because of the philosophy on which the craft is based. Contrary to modern teachings, a hierarchy exists in the classical teachings of the Tradition of astrology, and all of these pertain to "subjects fit to be judged" as laid down by traditional authorities. Based on this hierarchy, it is not a prerequisite that a student has any astrological background when commencing traditional studies; it is preferred that the mind is uncluttered and uncorrupted by other branches of astrology. The student of astrology enters from the bottom and works his way up as his knowledge and understanding of the craft grows.

Various studies have proven that intense mental activity slows the ageing process and assists in preventing the onset of degenerative mental disease. The study of traditional astrology challenges one’s mental faculties while providing thought provoking substance for the spirit. The classical teachings on which the craft is based provide answers to many of life’s profound questions: astrology is the study of time itself and enables us to glimpse the hierarchy of creation and our place in it. The practical application assists us in making decisions that enhance the quality of life: astrology is a superior navigation tool.
