A normal healthy person takes 18 breaths per minute; 1080 breaths per hour; 25920 breaths per day. The vernal point takes 25920 years to go around the zodiac. One day’s breaths reflect the number of solar years in a cosmic year. |

Medical astrology is an ancient methodology used to determine the cause and treatment of existing conditions (as well as the efficacy of prescribed treatments and attending physicians) and to formulate individual wellness and lifestyle programmes to achieve optimum health. Therapies derived from planetary signatures are prescribed such as Gem Stone Therapy, Tissue Salts, Essential Oils and Bach Flower Remedies. Individual nutrition, weight loss and exercise programmes are derived from the temperament (humors) as well as treatments for existing illness. A body work programme based on Polarity Therapy is offered: all of these assist in the facilitation of healing; the efficacy is heightened as the programme is derived from the individual birth or horary chart – it is not one size fits all.

Astrology is not governed by any governmental or legislative body. While this produces benefits for both the astrologer and the client, it does create an area of concern by making it difficult for people to (know how to) select an astrologer; this provides an opportunity for those who should not be involved in the craft to profit from the public's ignorance. The basis for selecting an astrologer however, is the same as for selecting any practitioner and the same criteria and level of discernment should be applied. At the outset it is important to enquire after the discipline of astrology practiced; the area of astrology is vast and there are numerous options available to the public. It is at this initial stage of selection that common sense should prevail.

The birth chart, in the hands of a qualified and skilled astrologer, yields the essence, the very core of the person: this information, coupled with the external context of the life, determines relationship compatibility with others: intimate, familial and business; an understanding of this relationship realm allows the person to derive maximum benefit and enjoyment from all existing relationships. The natal chart depicts how the individual is perceived by others, a factor often overlooked when engaging with others; in many cases it is this perception that needs to be addressed first in order to transform relationships. Astrology is the oldest psychological assessment tool known to man and a skilled astrologer is able to apply this ancient craft to the most complex of life’s realms: relationships.

An astrological sport assessment ensures that the individual potential provided at birth is maximised and that the person is able to select the appropriate sporting modality when young. The potential for success in the sporting arena is depicted as well as the obstacles on that path: knowledge of these opportunities and pitfalls assists in making the right decisions and streamlining the sports career. The correct training methodologies, nutrition and supplementation programmes can be derived to ensure optimum performance. Positive and negative psychological factors and the potential for physical injuries can be pin pointed and addressed, assisting in alleviating any unnecessary trauma.

The natal chart is the palette of colours provided at birth: identify and maximise this potential to paint the most beautiful picture with this gift of life. The natal chart is able to provide insight into self-defeating behaviour on all levels: all facets of the person and the life are contained in the chart together with the solutions to these sensitive points. Astrology is a superior navigation tool and the natal chart is the road map of the individual life within which free will is contained: natal charts can be directed into the future and these forecasts are weather reports; if heeded, and the free will is applied prudently, unnecessary suffering can be alleviated - man does not only have to learn by trial and error.

Everything that is ‘born’ can have a birth chart: while we do not play God, if the event in question will occur anyway, election astrology provides the entity with the best possible chance of success by assessing the potential depicted by the movement of the planets, enabling right action to occur at the right time. The optimum time is found for the birth of future entities such as a marriage (providing a psychological tool for solutions to possible potential problem areas) or the launch of a new business (having a birth chart for a business facilitates prudent future planning and strategizing). The optimum time to undergo surgery, host an event, travel or immigrate can also be derived.

Horary means ‘on the hour’: the horary chart is the birth chart of the situation, providing specific answers to specific questions which cannot be obtained from the natal chart. Horary is also the ideal astrological tool for those who do not have their birth time. While horary is seen primarily as a tool for prediction, its greater value lies not in its ability to forecast the outcome of any situation, but in its ability to provide a clear and succinct analysis of that situation, empowering you to act accordingly. Any question may be asked provided it is specific: location of missing items/people, career choices, financial investments, relationships questions, medical questions, the outcome of sporting events, etc. Horary is practical, accurate and provides deep insight into murky situations.

In the chart we find 3 unfortunate houses, the 6th, 8th and 12th. Of these the 12th is possibly the most misunderstood due to the facets of human behaviour that it rules. We are also prone, as a species, to averting our eyes from our own folly and avoiding the word “sin” as it causes distress and challenges our belief systems. The modern age in which we live tends to focus on the “mind over matter” principle where Grace is not required, and on reincarnation. The word “sin” has therefore become redundant to those who subscribe to this philosophy - we receive numerous chances to improve ourselves over the course of many lives, there is no eternal damnation, and we are the masters of our own destiny. What is often overlooked is that the cultures from which the belief in reincarnation springs, not the modern western version of it, all subscribe to the word karma which in Biblical terms is interpreted as “what ye shall sow, so ye shall reap.” There is no room in this model for behaviour which has carte blanche over misdeeds, which means that even in those cultures, the word sin exists, albeit labelled, interpreted and applied in different ways.

International exposure
A friend of mine recently returned from a lengthy holiday abroad. To say that she has been depressed and unhappy since her return is to put it mildly – I believe that she has experienced panic attacks and her senses are heightened causing an over reaction to negative situations that she views in her immediate surroundings. Travelling to other countries that do not share our levels of crime and “flavour” of stress can do this to you – although in my travels, even to the most first world of countries – all that I have ever wanted towards the end of my trips was to come home. We are all affected differently and in pondering the reasons as to why this is so, I deduced that it was a question of philosophy.
