The study of traditional astrology challenges one’s mental faculties while providing thought provoking substance for the spirit. The classical teachings on which the craft is based provide answers to many of life’s profound questions: astrology is the study of time itself and enables us to glimpse the hierarchy of creation and our place in it. The practical application assists us in making decisions that enhance the quality of life: astrology is a superior navigation tool.

Investing in knowledge yields the highest return: the study of astrology facilitates client consultations while adding value to the life of the practitioner: learn to do the right thing at the right time. Traditional astrology provides a solid and thorough astrological foundation, ensuring the necessary skills are attained to apply the craft; a spiritual dimension exists as well due to the philosophy with which the craft is aligned. It is not to be entered into lightly: commitment, diligence, courage and humility are required if the student is to master the subject; that said it is a subject that can never truly be mastered due to its complexity.

The study of traditional astrology is not conducive to self-study: text books do not contain the intricate nuances required to apply the craft with efficacy as it is impossible to list all that is known in print. Even the great astrologer William Lilly learnt his skill from another authority who preceded him in this celestial science.

Mundane astrology is the pinnacle of astrological studies: on completion of this 5th level of study the student is awarded the Master Craftsman Diploma. This specialised course is by invitation only to those who have completed and excelled in the previous 4 levels of tuition.

The branch of medical astrology is vast and requires an individual module to do it justice. This course provides the student with a solid medical astrology foundation and practical tools with which to assist their clients. While it is illegal in South Africa to diagnose from an astrology chart, a medical astrologer is able to provide practical insight and is able to facilitate healing even when other medical disciplines are unable to do so. This specialised course is offered by invitation only to students who have excelled in the previous 3 levels of tuition.

The realm of the fixed stars and its corresponding mythology provides the perfect platform from which to delve into the world of symbolism. Astrology is a language of symbols: the student of astrology is required, by this stage of their studies, to possess a thorough understanding of both symbolism and the sphere of the fixed stars.

This is an advanced course in judging natal and electional charts by traditional methods, based on seventeenth-century practice, with extensive reference to earlier sources. As with horary, we aim at precision: the prospective student should be warned that some of the methods for achieving this involve a considerable amount of work. Although it involves effort however, the course reflects the two guiding principles of all our tuition: astrology can be simple; astrology can be fun. Levels 1 and 2 of my tuition adhere to the format as taught by John Frawley: this ensures consistency in the Tradition and facilitates student education when attending international conferences.

Immaterial of the prospective student's astrological leanings, the basics cannot be negated: in depth study of the fundamental principles of astrology must be mastered before the student can even consider galloping off in the direction of more meaty topics; you cannot add flesh to a non-existent bone.

1. Acceptance onto all of my courses is entirely at my discretion; Levels 4 and 5 are by invitation only.
2. All levels are available via correspondence only.
3. The student agrees to read the initial correspondence sent to him on registration in its entirety.
4. The student agrees to the Terms and Conditions and understands it is his responsibility to familiarise himself with them; this includes points 1 to 9 under Accessing the Student Zone.
5. After commencement of the relevant course I reserve my right to terminate the student's tuition for any of the following reasons: tutorials are regularly submitted after the deadlines; the student regularly fails to submit tutorials; the student regularly submits work that is below standard; tuition fees are regularly paid late; the behaviour/attitude of the student is not conducive to continuing our relationship.
6. Should I terminate the studies for any of the above-mentioned reasons, this will be affected immediately.
7. No refunds will apply under any circumstances and no notice period is required from me.
8. The certification attained on completion of studies is awarded entirely at my discretion: it is possible to fail if the standard of work is regularly below what is expected or if insufficient work has been submitted during the course.
9. For levels where a final delineation is required (and which is invoiced separately for some levels), failure to attain accuracy may result in failure of the course in its entirety.
10. Only payment of the 1st instalment for that module/level secures acceptance.
11. Should a student pay by credit card a 5% surcharge is levied.  
12. All course fees are payable as per their stipulated deadlines: this information is clearly depicted on my web site and is sent to students on registration of the course.
13. No tutorials are assessed if fees are in arrears.
14. One month’s calendar notice is required if the student wishes to terminate his studies; any fees paid in advance will not be refunded.
15. Students may not record extra lessons or tutorial workshops; students may request an audio file from me for which a fee is applicable.
16. Audio files, hand outs and any notes I provide may not, under any circumstances, be shared with a 3rd party; this is my intellectual property.
17. Compulsory text books are purchased by the student and do not form part of the course material provided.
18. Computer software is purchased by the student and does not form part of the course material provided.
19. Any tutorial workshops conducted do not form part of the course fees or syllabus structure and are invoiced separately, payable in advance.
20. Students agree that accessing the Student Zone is compulsory and forms part of these Terms and Conditions; this section facilitates communication and audio file uploads.
21. I reserve my right, without prejudice, to amend these Terms and Conditions as and when I deem necessary.
22. Some tutorials do not warrant an audio file, in which case the student will be sent my assessment via mail.
23. Students may receive an audio file and a mail from me should I need to include additional documents which I do not choose to upload to the Student Zone; this will be stipulated either on the calendar or via mail.
24. My turn-around time to assess and respond to submitted tutorials is maximum 2 week days for horary (Level 1) and for the levels thereafter, 5 week days.
25. I reserve my right to amend these deadlines as and when necessary.

To fully understand traditional astrology, the student needs to enter the realm of theology/philosophy through the mind of Thomas Aquinas; religion via the great theological mind of Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger; history through authors such as Patrick Curry and Benson Bobrick and the genre of science through Maimonides; the essence of the craft is not derived from astrological text books. Most of books listed under this recommended reading section are not only for students of astrology: although they all have bearing on the study of the craft they can be enjoyed by anyone with an interest in this ancient, soul-filled Tradition.
